Crescent City Football Club Names Lowery Crews as Director of Community Outreach, partners with The 18th Ward Sports Club

New Orleans, LA (February 14th, 2023) – Crescent City Football Club is proud to announce the appointment of Lowery Crews as the Director of Community Outreach. Mr. Crews brings with him a wealth of experience and a passion for promoting the sport of soccer and improving the communities it serves.

In this role, Mr. Crews will lead the club’s outreach efforts, working with local schools, organizations, and businesses to provide educational and recreational opportunities for young people and families. CCFC will also partner with The 18th Ward, a local organization of which Mr. Crews is the founder, dedicated to providing high-quality, low-cost youth sports programs in New Orleans, where everyone is welcome regardless of race, gender, income, or neighborhood.

“I am honored to be joining Crescent City Football Club and to have the opportunity to work with such a dedicated team,” said Mr. Crews. “I look forward to working with the community to promote the sport of soccer and provide opportunities for young people and families to participate and grow.”

Mr. Crews’ passion for community outreach stems from his own experiences as a parent searching for quality, low-cost, and diverse youth sports programs. “As a parent of two kids, I couldn’t find a high-quality, low-cost, and diverse youth sports program so I started The 18th Ward in 2019 to bring kids and families together from all 17 wards in New Orleans. We started with 40 soccer players in 2019 and by the end of this 2022-2023 school year we will have created 4,000 youth opportunities through a variety of sports and workforce development programs.”

As the Director of Outreach, Mr. Crews has high aspirations for the club. “I hope to help families navigate a fractured system of youth sports and work with a range of partners to create a strong pipeline of quality, affordable, and inclusive programs that give our young people the opportunity to achieve their goals whether that’s staying active through adult programs with Crescent City Soccer or into more competitive environments like college soccer at Xavier or semi pro with CCFC.”

“I believe clubs should exist to serve the entire community. Currently, it’s a privilege in New Orleans to have access to great soccer coaches and great facilities. There’s potential to change this reality in our city with the right group of people on board. I believe New Orleans can be a model for other urban communities. I’m excited to demonstrate how we can increase access and participation for youth and families.”

The Club President, Jonathan Rednour, echoes Mr. Crews’ enthusiasm, “Improving our efforts to truly become a club for our community has been a critical missing piece to our mission as an organization. Having Mr. Crews join our team and partnering with a great organization like The 18th Ward brings much needed value to our outreach ambitions.”

“The 18th Ward and CCFC are team-oriented. People should expect open arms from us and an open mind about how we can support our community through this global game,” adds Mr. Crews.

The Crescent City Football Club is excited to welcome Mr. Crews to the team and looks forward to working together to grow the sport of soccer in the community.
