Motagua New Orleans advances in USOC due to forfeit

Lamar_Hunt_U.S._Open_Cup_logo.svgMotagua New Orleans will advance to the second round of the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifiers due to a forfeit by Tobacco Roads FC. The Blue Eagles were anticipating a great match-up as they were familiar with majority of Tobacco Roads’ team.

Motagua faced Triangle Brigade FC in their first contest in the USASA Region III Open Cup. Triangle Brigade folded shortly after the tournament; while Tobacco Roads FC was formed in the early summer of 2015 and now consists mostly of players from Triangle Brigade. Motagua won their contest against Triangle Brigade in a nail biter, 3-2. Motagua awaits their opponents in the third round which will be between Queen City United FC or Charlotte Sporting Soccer Academy FC.
