Early goal sets tone for Gaffa FC victory in New Orleans

New Orleans, LA (May 23rd) – A rough start last night for the home team put the boys on their heels and couldn’t find their rhythm to come away with a result vs. a strong Gaffa FC squad.

Mother nature played tricks per usual in New Orleans with threat of heavy rains, however the overcast and cool breeze made for a great evening to witness some quality football at Holy Cross Field.

“This was an important game for us to come away with a result” said Head Coach, Matt Millet. “Unfortunately our final third efforts continue to be a struggle and something we will be working on this week.”

The game began in horrible fashion for the boys as an early goal in the 2nd minute from Gaffa FC, due to a passing error in the midfield, really put the boys in a tough spot from the jump. While Gaffa FC continued to have success on the counter attack, CCFC were able to settle and begin controlling the game. Winger, Axel Fuentes, showed his skills in the 21st minute by making his way through four Gaffa defenders before getting a shot on frame that tested the Gaffa keeper. Another chance would come from Fuentes just two minutes later with his shot just edging the outside of the goal post. Unfortunately for CCFC, the Jackson, MS crew would increase their lead in the 32nd minute from a set piece, putting them up 2-0. The remainder of the first half would be back and forth with no real chances.
