Crescent City Football Club joins GCPL as newest expansion team

The GCPL has announced today the inclusion of Crescent City Football Club (CCFC) for the 2020 GCPL season.

“New Orleans has provided the GCPL with some very talented teams on the field over the years.” stated league Executive Director, Sean Esker “The off the field engagement and overall club culture is something we feel Crescent City FC will continue to capture for the GCPL in the city.”

“We’re looking for this to be a community driven project.” said PJ Lynch, CCFC President. “New Orleans is loaded with players and fans that we’re wanting to engage with and we feel the GCPL allows us to do just that.”

Crescent City FC held an invitational friendly v. Gulf Coast Galaxy in December

Crescent City FC was formed in 2015 by a small group of coaches and players which participated in a small number of exhibition matches.  The founders felt at the time that the overall landscape of United States soccer was not ready for a community based club.  A new group of owners, investors and partners believe that the time is right to bring soccer to the city of New Orleans. A focus of exciting on-field competition paired with a lively game day experience for fans, CCFC claims to  quickly become New Orleans’ team.

“New Orleans has a very strong, but interesting, soccer community,” added GCPL VP of Operations, Jonathan Rednour. “There was a good bit of research put in to developing relationships with the other like minded entities in the city. We want to see this sport grow (in New Orleans) and having a better understanding on how the local community operates, gives us better insight on what voids we can help fill.”

More details on home field location, team tryouts  and much more are to follow.  Until then, visit the club website crescentcityfc.com and follow @crescentcityfc on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
