Pineville, LA (May 22, 2023) – In a highly anticipated Gulf Coast Premier League (GCPL) showdown, Central Louisiana FC demonstrated their superiority as they secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Crescent City FC. The match, which took place at Wildcat Stadium in Pineville, Louisiana, marked Central Louisiana’s opening home game, adding to their determination to make a strong impression. While Crescent City FC entered the contest with a recent road win under their belt, their slow start and struggles to find rhythm allowed Central Louisiana to take control early on.
Crescent City FC began the game in a lackluster fashion, struggling to find their footing and establish their rhythm. The consequence was a quick goal for Central Louisiana, as Manuel Concetti broke the deadlock in the 6th minute. The home team swiftly extended their lead in the 11th minute through Shakeem Walters, leaving Crescent City reeling at 2-0. Faced with an early deficit, Crescent City made positional adjustments to regain their composure and momentum.

Undeterred, Crescent City began to gain better control of the game and generated more positive attacking opportunities. However, the stout defense of Central Louisiana denied Crescent City any significant chances in the box.
Central Louisiana’s goalkeeper proved instrumental for the home team, making a crucial save in the 74th minute that led to a swift counter-attack resulting in their fourth goal of the match. Crescent City managed to pull one goal back in the 84th minute, with Ryan Jeanfreau converting a penalty kick after being fouled in the box. Crescent City fought valiantly in the dying minutes, continuously pressing forward and launching shots on goal, but Central Louisiana’s defense held firm.
