BOCA FC set to host Motagua New Orleans in a battle for the league title
League newcomers, BOCA FC, are set to host what has turned into a “finale” type game to close out the 2015-2016 Louisiana Premier League campaign. Both BOCA and Motagua New Orleans sit at the top of the table with 14 points. However, Motagua’s goal differential advantage (+3) puts the pressure on BOCA as they are in a must win situation.
“We will be looking to finish this season strong, hopefully with a win and another LPL title.” said Motagua New Orleans team captain, Leo Ferreira de Barros “A win on the road against a team like BOCA will help boost our confidence as we prepare for our US Open Cup game in May.”
The first meeting between these two teams ended in an exciting 1-1 draw with some late drama. BOCA lead majority of the game 1-0 until Motagua scored a much needed equalizer in the 90th minute by their captain, Leo Ferreira de Barros. “It was disappointing to give up a late goal like that.” said BOCA FC coach Francoise Browne “We felt we were the better team that game and we should have closed it out. They are not a team you want to let linger around so we will need to score early to put them away.”
“BOCA FC is a team with a lot of energy.” said Motagua New Orleans coach Tony Martinez “They are a very fast and physical team that challenges you to play quick.”
One advantage BOCA FC has to look forward to is the suspension of Motagua’s veteran left midfielder, Steven Morris. “Of course losing one of your more experienced players is never a good thing. However we feel that Caio (Cruz) offers just as much.” said Tony Martinez when asked about the loss of their veteran player.
“This will be a game with a lot of action.” said league commissioner Jonathan Rednour “After seeing the first game between these two I have no doubt this game will be a great contest.”
The game is set to take place at Cargill Park in Shreveport on Saturday (2/13) at 4pm.
