FT HOOD, TX (January 19, 2023) – Daggers CTX of Fort Hood, Texas, have joined the Gulf Coast Premier League for 2023. The club, which is the second from Texas to join the league, will participate in the west conference for 2023.
Founded as an evolution of the Fort Hood (Cavasos) area youth club, Daggers CTX provides a pathway to professional soccer for locals and soldier athletes. The club’s pro development side is a reflection of its commitment to promoting the sport and providing opportunities for players to excel at the highest level.
“I grew up on the Louisiana gulf coast and have watched the GCPL’s progress over the years,” said club Director and Head Coach, Michal “Josh” Guidry. “After previously being on staff in the USL and leading an NPSL team last year, I knew the league’s standards were high and the level of play was excellent. I only see the league growing and I’m excited for its future in Texas.”
Military soccer is at the heart of Daggers CTX, and the club’s history is deeply rooted in the sport. Guidry, an Army veteran, has a deep appreciation for the sport and understands the importance of providing a platform for stationed soldiers, as well as local athletes, to showcase their talent and pursue their dreams.
“Daggers CTX style and roots come from our decades long experience with US Armed Forces Soccer and Elite Youth Soccer.” added Guidry. “We are one of the few teams in pro development that works closely with the US Army on post and offer a path to pro for civilians and military olympic soccer for soldier athletes.”
“I was very excited to learn about the club and its mission to promote high level amateur soccer for stationed soldiers,” said President, Jeremy Poklemba. “Everything they presented to us aligned with what we have been slowly progressing towards for years. This is a great addition to our Texas ambitions.”
The Daggers CTX are set to play all of its home games at Fort Hood Stadium and look forward to bringing local fans a high quality experience on game day that allows direct access with the players and staff.
