On a perfectly warm evening in southern Louisiana, two of the GCPL’s top clubs faced off for the 2019 GCPL Cup in their third meeting of the season.
In a tough back in forth match, the lone goal came in the 56th minute from FC New Orleans striker, Miguel Rios. A free kick from outside the top of the box gave the visitors the advantage after a perfectly executed play headed in the net by Rios.
“I am always confident in myself, but I believe that the effort of this goal came from everyone” said Rios “I wanted this for the fans of FC New Orleans, for El Huizache, the neighborhood where I am, for Mexico, and above Guerrero”

“It was a successful event” said league Director Jonathan Rednour. “The game was entertaining, played at a good level and showcased a lot of talent that resides locally. We had 421 fans in attendance who definitely helped create an overall great atmosphere.”
FC New Orleans owner, Omar Romero, was “happy and pleased” with the culmination of this tournament and looked forward to reclaiming their thrown in 2020.
