Motagua New Orleans has claimed it’s third league title and qualifies to represent the Gulf Coast Premier League in the 2018 US Open Cup Qualifying track which will begin play in September of 2017.
“This title embodies our everyday efforts to be better athletes while giving us a chance to represent our city and our community in the gulf coast region.” said team captain, Leonardo Barros. “Playing in the GCPL gives us the chance to compete against the best soccer players in our state and around (the region), it keeps us motivated by providing us with exciting games and it motivates us to work harder every week.”
Motagua has posted a 22-4-2 record over the last three seasons with a 79+ goal differential in league play. “We just try to take it one game at a time.” said head coach Tony Martinez. “We know we have a target on our backs and every club puts forth their best efforts against us. It’s something we’ve come to like about playing in this league. We know we will get a chance to play the best in the region.”
The Blue Eagles are set to return for the summer GCPL season.
